Irony: An example of irony was when they were listening to the radio and the prime minister said that Holland was still nuetral but father said that the war will happen. That same night bombing started happening and they knew that war had begun. This example fits the word irony because it shows how it was ironic that the dad said war would break out soon enough and later that night it did.
Metaphor: An example of a metaphor would be when they called the tree "The Bride of Haarlem". This would be an example because the tree really isn't a bride,it is just called that because of its white glory. Excellent example and explanation!
Stereotype: When war broke out the Germans didn't like the Jews. This example fits the word steeotype because after war broke out in Holland, the Germans were very stereotypical against Jewish people.
Allusion: Corrie had an allusion about the war and her family. This example fits the word allusion because she almost had like a vision of something that was going to happen to her family.

1. She has no love in her life
2. Her family keeps dying
3. By saving the Jews she knows that she is putting her Father and sister at risk of being caught
An internal conflict is a mental or emotional sturggle that occurs within a character. The 3 internal conflicts that go on with Corrie all happen at different times. The first one happened when Corrie met someone named Karol and they really liked each other and thought that they would get married and start a life together. But Karol's family believes in choosing someone different for him because they have a different kind of lifestyle. He tells Corrie this and she becomes heartbroken. Now Corrie doesn't have any love in her life and believes that it just wasn't meant to be for and that God has a plan for her. She struggles with that sometimes. Another internal conflict was about how her family keeps dying and becoming sick. Her mother passed away shortly when she was younger and all her aunts have died because of illness. Now it is just her sister and Father at home but her other sister lives somewhere else. This conflict can't really be resolved because she can't bring them back, she just has to believe that God is taking care of them and that someday they will all be together. The last conflict involves the Jews. Corrie has been taking in Jews for about a year or so and it is a great risk for her to be doing that because it is putting her family at risk of being caught. The problem is that the Jews don't have anywhere to go and Corrie doesn't want to watch them get taken away or killed, so she hides them in the Beje.
External:

A scenario like this happened when Corrie had to go to the police station and the officer she knew said that he knew all about what she was doing. She tried to cover it up by making other excuses but finally he said he knew about the hiding of the Jews. Corrie was thinking to herself about what she should say because he could just be trying to get her to admit it to him and then tell someone. Corrie has to think about all this before she tells anyone.
Eusie

1. He is a Jew and could be killed
2. At first he had no where to hide until Corrie let him in
3. He can't see his family because they are all hiding somewhere else
Eusie is a Jew who is staying in the Beje with Corrie and a lot of other Jews. Because Eusie is a Jew he can get scared at the fact that he could be killed any day if anyone found him. He doesn't like the fact that they are killing Jews but he can't really do anything about that. Another conflict would be that he can't see any of his family because they are in hiding somewhere else and he is at the Beje. It can get hard sometimes because he probably thinks about them and wonders if they are safe. This will be resolved when Eusie knows it is safe and can go find his family. A 3rd conflict would be that before Corrie saw him he had no where to hide. There are soldiers everywhere and he could get taken away if he was in his own home. When Corrie finds him, he knows that he will be safe for a little while.

There are many other Jews staying in the Beje and it can become bery crowed when they are hiding. Eusie has to deal with that or he would have to just go somewhere else, which I don't think he would want to do. This conflict is resolved by just dealing with it until they can find more space. At least he has somewhere to stay. Another conflict that he has to deal with is that he can be killed. If someone finds out about the Beje and all the Jews hiding, he is in big trouble and will be killed immediatly. To stay hidden and alive can get tough at times because you never know what can happen and with everything going on in Harrlem he could easily be found. To resolve this, at the Beje they changed his name so people wouldn't know he is a Jew.

Young people were indoctinated into Nazism at a very young age. Boys about 10 years of age entered into these organizations. Millions of young Germans won over to Nazism through classrooms and extraciricular activities. The numbers of people kept increasing until 1936 when it became mandatory. They taught them not to like any Jews and the main thing in the Hitler Youth was devotion to Adolf Hitler. They were taught that Hitlers birthday was a national holiday and that it had to be celebrated. In schools, the text books were replaced with other text books that taught students love for Hitler, obedience to state authority, militarism, racism, and antisemitism. students love for Hitler, obedience to state authority, militarism, racism, and antisemitism. His portrait was put in all the classrooms.
All of these organizations fit into Hilter's plan for a perfect world because it would teach everyone to follow him and do what he says and only what he says.
